Willy Adames and Hunter Renfroe both homered for the second straight day, rookie Jason Alexander earn his first career win and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-3. Jace Peterson drove in two runs with a sixth-inning double on a chopper over the head of leaping first baseman Mike Moustakas, and Milwaukee won a second straight game for the first time this month. The roller-coaster Reds have lost three straight after a three-game winning streak, which followed a four-game slide. Alexander allowed one unearned run through five innings of his fourth start before giving up four hits and two runs in the sixth.

Phil Robertson’s Team Canada bounced back from a capsize earlier in the week to win two of three fleet races and take the lead in the United States Sail Grand Prix Chicago on Lake Michigan. NEW YORK — Some organizers of Juneteenth celebrations around the city admit they’ve been learning about the origins of the commemoration, but are eager to bring New Yorkers up to speed on the nation’s newest federal holiday.

West Virginia Democrats have tapped two members of the House of Delegates as their new leaders, electing Mike Pushkin as chairman and Danielle Walker as vice chair. The selections were made at a meeting in Bridgeport. Pushkin has been a member of the House from Kanawha County since 2015. He will replace Belinda Biafore, who did not seek re-election. Walker has served in the House from Monongalia County since 2019. They’ll have their work cut out for them. Republicans control the governor’s office and have supermajorities in the state Senate and House of Delegates. There are 33 Democrats combined in the 134-member Legislature.

Dejan Joveljic scored the equalizer for the LA Galaxy in a 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers. Joveljic’s game-tying goal came on a header in the 88th minute. Julian Araujo got an assist, his well-timed pass from the right corner reaching Joveljic as he arrived at the goal box. Yimmi Chara scored the lone goal for the Timbers.

The Louisiana Legislature has ended a special session without agreeing on a new congressional map that must include a second majority-Black district as ordered by a federal judge. Observers said after the session ended Saturday that the mapping of new boundaries now appears likely to fall to the courts. The Advocate reports no proposed amendments could win the minimum 20 votes needed for Senate approval. U.S. District Judge Shelly Dick ordered the new map. She recently struck down a map lawmakers approved earlier this year containing white majorities in five of six districts. Gov. John Bel Edwards blasted lawmakers on Saturday for failing to come up with a new plan.
